In recent decades, museums, archives and other GLAM institutions have produced vast amounts of data: Virtual collections of data objects that remain largely invisible in their digital materiality, only becoming visible, accessible and usable through visual interfaces. How virtual collections can be maintained and developed, how they can be used for research and scholarship, and how they can be presented to a wider audience are all questions of design.
